Application of GIS in Modeling Rainfall Erosivity Factor (Case Study: Gabric Watershed- Hormozgan Province East South)

author

Abstract:

If other factors are held constant erosion, soil loss rate is directly proportional to the amount of rain erosion. Various measures have been proposed so far in the world, depending on geographic location, scale, local conditions and the type of measurement are different. A review of studies conducted worldwide and the limited rain gauge equipped, modified Fournier index is calculated based on the statistics of monthly and annual rainfall, were used. Therefore, the index of the 22 stations with 11 years of rainfall statistics was calculated for the Watershed Gabric. After rain erosion index for the desired station using the software GS+1.1.1, Geo-statistical extensions based on geo-statistical method kriging ESRI®ArcMap™ 10.0 in rain erosion factor map was drawn to this area. In this study, we have compared three kriging techniques: simple, universal and ordinary kriging. The obtained results show that ordinary kriging with a 394.42 Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) is the most proper interpolation technique.

Evaluating the Spatial-Temporal Variations of Rainfall Erosivity and Erosivity Density (A Case Study: Menderjan Watershed, Isfahan Province)

Rainfall erosivity is one of the factors determining the amount of water erosion in the soil. Rainfall erosivity is determined by the  total rainstorm energy and the maximum intensity in 30 minutes (I30). Since rainfall erosivity is closely related to the amount and intensity of rainfall, it is expected that the rainfall erosivity would change monthly and seasonally throughout the year. The mai...

modeling rainfall erosivity factor for single showers: a case study in khuzestan province, iran

this study tries to investigate relationship between rainfall parameters and usle r factor. to gain r-factor, at first, shower kinetic energy was calculated and then its erosivity computed by using maximum 30 minutes rainfall intensity. therefore 3 meteorological stations in khuzestan province and one station per kohgiloyeh & boyerahmad and boushehr provinces were selected and their recorde...

Application of Machine Learning Approaches in Rainfall-Runoff Modeling (Case Study: Zayandeh_Rood Basin in Iran)

Run off resulted from rainfall is the main way of receiving water in most parts of the World. Therefore, prediction of runoff volume resulted from rainfall is getting more and more important in control, harvesting and management of surface water. In this research a number of machine learning and data mining methods including support vector machines, regression trees (CART algorithm), model tree...

Rainfall erosivity in Europe.

Rainfall is one the main drivers of soil erosion. The erosive force of rainfall is expressed as rainfall erosivity. Rainfall erosivity considers the rainfall amount and intensity, and is most commonly expressed as the R-factor in the USLE model and its revised version, RUSLE. At national and continental levels, the scarce availability of data obliges soil erosion modellers to estimate this fact...

Evaluation erosivity factor of rain using Geostatistical algorithms (case study: Ilam province, Iran)

Today, soil erosion is considered as one of main subjects of watershed management at national and global levels. Assessment of decreasing risk of soil and it spatial distribution are one of key factors for successful evaluation of soil erosion. The objectives of research were calculation and modeling of rain erosivity factor in Ilam province using data of number of 28 pluviometry stations durin...
